The BlueFletch Chat application opens to a user list, which has three conversation folders:
- Unread: Holds conversations with messages the user has not yet seen.
- Active: Lists users that are currently logged-in and can receive messages from the user.
- Inactive: Lists users that are currently logged-out and cannot receive messages from the user.
Conversations in the Unread folder display a counter badge noting the number of unread messages, regardless of whether the other user is currently still logged-in.
Pull down from the top of the user list screen to refresh the data displayed.
Messages cannot still be sent after the other user has logged-off. The conversation goes into the Inactive folder. When a user logs off, the conversation is removed from that device. Upon logging-in again, the user can start a new conversation with the same device user.
Within a conversation, messages are timestamped, but the time is hidden by default. Click on a message to show the time it was sent/received.
To communicate with a user on another device, find the user in the list of active users and click on the username to open a conversation. Type a message and send. If the other user replies, the new message will appear below the previous in the conversation.
To send a voice message on a Zebra device, hold the Push-To-Talk (PTT) button to start recording. An audio wavelength animation is displayed tracking the voice changes while recording. Once finished speaking, release the PTT button, and the device will stop recording and automatically send the audio file as an attachment. Depending on how
autoPlayAudio is configured on the receiving device, the recording may or may not automatically play upon receipt. Either way, the audio file can be played from the conversation by clicking on the play button on the audio message.
To communicate from the Portal with a device user, locate the device from the Home tab dashboard or from the Playbook MDM - Devices list and open its Device Details page. The last reported user on the device is displayed in the Device Information card in Device Details. Press the Chat button to open a messaging window and begin sending text messages to the device user.
Once the Portal administrator opens a Chat messaging window, a device user can see the Portal admin in the Active users and send a text message; audio attachments cannot be recorded or sent in a conversation with a Portal user.
